NHS Minor Ailment Scheme

This scheme is available to people who don’t pay for their prescriptions. By visiting your pharmacy, you can get free advice and where appropriate, free treatment for certain minor conditions without needing to see your GP.

How it works

Step 1
Come into the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist about your condition.

Step 2
Our pharmacist will determine if any medication is required and then provide this, where suitable and appropriate for your condition.

What does the minor ailment scheme cover?

The minor ailment scheme can be used to support a wide range of conditions and illnesses such as:

  • Aches, pains and strains
  • Colds and coughs
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Earache
  • Haemorrhoids
  • Hay fever
  • Head lice
  • Headache
  • Heartburn and idigestion
  • Mild eczema and other skin conditions
  • Minor fungal infections
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Nappy rash
  • Sore throats
  • Teething
  • Threadworm
  • Thrush
